DEMOCRATS ARE CALLED “GODLESS” AND ARE BEING QUESTIONED ABOUT THE INTEGRITY OF THEIR FAITH
By William Dwight McKissic, Sr.
It’s interesting that Democrats are being questioned about the integrity of their faith, from Republican loyalists who elected a man who own casinos, strip joints, thrice married, engaged in multiple affairs while married, who will not answer the question whether or not he paid for an abortion, defends taking children from their mothers at the border, and announced at the outset of his candidacy that he would not try and overturn the sanctioning of same-sex marriage.
The truth of the matter is that the Democrats demonstrate a greater reflection of Christ’s Kingdom on issues of providing a safety net for the poor, immigration reform, social and economic justice and equality, fairness and policy brutality issues.
The Republicans provide a greater reflection of Christ’s Kingdom on issues regarding the sanctity of life and their platform position against gay marriage.
I’m neither Republican nor a Democrat. The Kingdom of God does not ride on the back of a donkey or an elephant. Jesus did not come to take sides; He came to take over. I’m solely on the side of the Lamb who is worthy. The Donkey and the Elephant both fall short of the Kingdom of God, by a long shot. To tout one party spiritually and morally superior to the other, is divisive and alienating to the vast majority of believers who tend to vote along party lines racially. The implications racially of labeling Democrats “godless” are staggering.
Such false, misleading, and ill-thought labeling places the vast majority of Black and Hispanic evangelicals in the category of “godless.” It is very painful and offensive to be labeled “godless” by a people who elected a person who prefers immigrants from Norway over African immigrants and refers to the alt-right as “very fine people.”

We do not celebrate Donald Trump as a Christian or as a man of high ethical standards. But he does seem best to make sure jobs are available for those who need them. And he does seem to be interested in protecting religious freedom. And he does oppose the murder of innocent babies. I find incredibly ironic and hypocritical of you to celebrate MLK Jr. as a Christian while making these criticisms of Trump. Fascinating. Trump is no saint. He is not a believer. None of these guys are. Your comments are a better reflection of your false theology than your claim to orthodoxy.

Well said. “Do not put your trust in princes, in moral men who cannot save,” says the Psalmist. Both political parties fall short of God’s standard, as does ever voter.
I remember a time when politically active Evangelical Christians said that a roaring economy and record job growth, which was happening during the Clinton administration, didn’t matter nearly as much as the president’s character did. Now many of those same individuals have made themselves hypocrites by embracing Trump. From 2008 to 2016 we had the combination of a president of high moral character, a scandal-free administration, a roaring economy and the longest stretch of private sector job growth in history.
I’ve grown weary of the appeals to supporting politicians because “they’re against abortion.” It is so easy to say that. Ronald Reagan stated that abortion on demand would be a thing of the past by the time he was through with his second term, and then turned around and appointed Supreme Court justices and federal judges who wouldn’t overturn Roe v. Wade or rule favorably toward pro-life legislation in the courts. We still don’t have it. Lip service is a far cry from action.

Pastor McKissic, Thank you my Friend for writing such a thoughtful post. I, personally, believe that those persons who profess faith in Jesus Christ and publicly turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to the unprincipled shenanigans and unscrupulous comportment of #45 have harmed the Cause of Christ! We are called, as Christ’s ambassadors, to rightly represent the Kingdom regardless of who occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue; whether the occupant is an elephant or a donkey!

Dr Bell,
Appreciate your encouraging words.
Long before I understood the magnitude, centrality, and impact of The Kingdom of God related to the life and ministry of Jesus, I observed you “Taking It To The Streets.” I was relatively new in town, but I watched you reverse a situation that seemed irreversible, when you led a march to bring justice to a situation, where a native Canadian was simply given probation for the intentional murder of a Black Man, soley based on complexion.
The Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. Kingdom disciples should “do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God” You were a man of the Kingdom, doing Kingdom work< seeking Kingdom justice long before I embraced fully, or even understood biblically, the theology of the Kingdom.
Blessings and Encouragement to you my brother.
